The 2005 Mustangs "beautiful people can cast an ugly shadow"
"Beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson
"SHADOWS" The first night Mr. Abate' explained what the design plan for the show was and the musical vehicle, the parents went crazy, some students jumped straight up saying YES!!!!!!!!, and yet one covered their faces and expressed "ewwwww" and thus started the very difficult road of getting all on ONE TEAM. However, by November, the theme costuming and storylines started to make much more sense to even those who "just liked" the show...they now are starting to love it. A REALLY ROOKIE GUARD was making it's growth known!
The Mustangs embarked on a completely different path in the next step to their progressing educational program of pageantry arts, taking the floor with a much larger guard and a much more aggressive style. along with HOODS. Yes, the best way to break in a large group of rookies is to have them feel like they can "hide" behind a mask and so it goes and within the season of the guards most cancelled shows and rehearsals ever due to weather and everything else you can think of, we still persevered and came out with our personal second highest score and the evidence is now here to convince us to move up to Class A for the next season and finally compete again at the WGI regional level to learn more about color guard and the activity as we know it. Mustangs of the 2005 season found out a couple simple but major things.1. video never ever lies and 2. when a guard focuses on winning more than the journey to learning and growing, no matter what color the medal could be, it will "never be good enough" for them, we saw it in person on the floor...we also try to teach the Mustangs that sportsmanship and courtesy to others will always be the focus. Parents and administration rallied behind the Mustangs home show performance and was quite supportive of the entire Season. The one weird event was when we were going to do an exhibition for the elementary students of the Mt. markham school, a few of their teachers wouldn't allow the students to come and watch...Obviously they didn't know what we do, but we'll send them tickets to the Sport of the Art show in 2006. Amazing how education is constantly a part of our program.
These Mustangs moved well as a team and by season end the clarity of the future was bright and now we needed to look at long term and family depth...who said 4 guards in 2006????!
