Our show for our first year ever, in existence is to the music of Metallica's re make of the Bob Seger classic, "Turn the Page" We took the song and did a variation of a "Generation X" approach  with lots of fire and flames to signify "burning past bridges and turning a "new page" on life. We wear typical gothic black on top and some comfortable jeans with our black leather gloves to give a sense of toughness and despair.
Our Y2K show is performed on a red mat, and the 3 backdrops are literally "walls of fire" that surround
us throughout the show.
We have 16 members in our guard, and we are hoping to have another group start next year for younger students so that we can be very good at this activity. Our staff is headed by our director, Mrs. Abate'. She works with us "24/7' as we rehearse after school 2 days a week. So HERE WE ARE!
Our Staff:
Equipment and movement Design by: Ms. Amanda VanDyke, Ms. Cassie Utter, Ms. Michelle Inman, Ms. Tess Armondi and Mr. Ron Abate' : Program Design and Consultant: Mr. Ron Abate'

NARRATIVE: This very first season of the guard established some wonderful philosophy and protocol. We also saw a rise in the interest from other students and plans began for the establishment of 2 other guards to feed the Mustangs. A rewarding finish at the MYCGC with a bronze medal showed the members that with some individual practice and continual positive work ethic, the progress and success of the guard is easily attainable. The Mustangs are one of  only 3 units in the 30 plus years of the MYCGC to take a medal in their very first year of competition. The guard elected it's own council of representatives:
Stephanie Berberick, President
Angelene Rowe, Vice President
Heather Grell, Treasurer
Amber Davis, Secretary
     Special Moments of 1999- 2000:
*The guards logo and Sport of The Art Show was born.
*The mantra "SPIN-MOVE-PERFORM" was started by Mrs. A .
*Tom won gold at the Mohonasen individuals contest, first Mustang ever to win an individual.
*Ironically, the Mustangs didn't get their bronze championship  medals until the banquet. A total surprise due to the fact that there was a tie for 1st at the MYCGC's and we didn't get the medals until the night before the banquet as Mrs. A  went to Central Square to pick them up, New Hartford's Silver medals were picked up by us as well and Mr. A   delivered them the banquet morning {their banquet was the same night as ours}..
* The guards 1st ever banquet was held at the Castlewood Cafe in Waterville.
* The Mustangs got navy blue sweat shirts with their names embroidered on them (but we were working towards jackets!).
* The website is born in March.
* The marching band had the colourguard with them for Memorial Day parades this year for the first time.
